That's embarrassing... But soooo me :)

This will be a lot of sharing of what happened to me yesterday, but there is a lesson in it and a tip for you at the end.

Yesterday was Monday
Mondays are the days when I usually rest, enjoy the day either with friends or alone.

And...

On Mondays I also write my newsletters.

But yesterday it was sooo different.

I am planning a road trip from UK to EU. And after being tied up with writing the book and other stuff, I had to start doing a lot of things that I either neglected while writing, or stuff that needs to be done before going on the 2,000 mile trip.

And, just to have it topped up with a bit more things to do, at the same time when I set a goal of writing the book I also started a course on Suicide and Self-harm recognition and prevention. Yes, talk about adding too much to the plate.

So yesterday my day felt nothing like a Monday.

I phoned my car insurance company to get roadside help cover for the EU, sorted bank payments and worked on an assignment for the course. Then I went to a friend whom I am helping with some legal financial dispute (she's the one who should be paid and I am helping her get the money). Then I went to get haircut and beard trim and when I came home I finally got an email with print-proof of my book Live the Life You Love for approval.

So from 6 pm until midnight I read the whole book to check for errors etc.

And there are MANY errors :'(.

If you started reading the .pdf version you probably noticed some of them.
(If you didn't, it's still available for a free download on Tree of Life Quest at Live the Life You Love).

But, because of the trip and a few other reasons I needed to order physical copies of the book right now. I hard pressed for time. So I approved the copy with all the mistakes—but only for orders made by me. Then I ordered the needed books.

The point is, sometimes we come to a situation when we cannot do a great job and be on time. Sometimes it is just not possible.

Granted, it happened because I planned poorly. But rather than being angry with myself and giving up (I am not able to fix the copy, send it for approval, wait another week and after order the fixed copies—there's just not enough time before my departure to go through all of that) I decided to own my mistakes and go with the errors.

It's better functionally done with a few blemishes than not done at all.

After the books will be printed (probably by Friday) I will submit fixed copy of the book for reapproval (I'll start working on fixes today, after I finish my course assignment) and whenever the approval happens I will release the book for orders.

(Oh, and when I will have it, I will resend to you the link to a fixed copy of the .pdf version as well.)

This first prints I ordered, with all the errors, will be a limited edition. Whoever will have that copy will have a rare item. Who knows, if the Live the Life You Love turns into a bestseller, those first copies might even become a collector's edition :D.

Oh, and the embarrassing part? It's not the fact that I will have books with a lot of errors. It's because in all that turmoil of yesterday I forgot to write and schedule sending out this newsletter! I am sorry for that, but I am also glad about that. Because I forgot to write it yesterday, I could now share this part of my journey to become a published author. And it's still going out on Tuesday, just little bit later.

And here is the tip:

Shit happens.

Sometimes we cannot fix some things to make them perfect. But we don't have to.

It's better done with blemishes than not done at all.

When shit happens, own the mistakes and do what needs to be done. You don't have to appear to be perfect. We all are imperfect. We all make mistakes. It's what makes us human.

The fact that you DO what you said you will do is more important.

I sometimes mess up. Actually, I mess up a lot. But I believe that what counts the most is the action you take, not the ones you intended to take but never took.

Thank you for reading and see you next Tuesday.
