I didn't publish. Yet. #088

It's 1st of October, nearly half past 1 pm.

Yesterday I was supposed to publish my book. I didn't. Yet.

I tried hard, and I came very close to it.

I spent hours and hours, writing, editing, and formatting.
I had one meal a day to save some time. (I am used to intermittent fasting when I eat only in a six-hour window, so this wasn't a big deal at all.)

When the deadline came yesterday, I felt, "I am so " close."

I even postponed writing and sending this newsletter because I felt that I would finish the editing and publish the book before 6 am today (the time I usually send the newsletter out).

But now seeing the time, and because I have scheduled work this afternoon, I decided to
  • take a break from editing and formatting
  • write and send this newsletter
  • take shower
  • get something to eat
  • contact friends and family
  • do the scheduled work and
  • continue on the book later tonight
So, I didn't publish. Yet.
But despite all that? I don't feel like a failure.

The deadline I went for was crazy.
Not impossible.

Writing a book in a month is possible. Especially, if you have so much material pre-prepared as I had. There is even an organised event when thousands of authors write a whole novel in a month.

But.
That is just a manuscript, without the editing, formatting, and all the other steps involved in publishing a book—many of which I had no idea about.

So when I set the deadline, I knew that it was crazy, but I did it anyway.
I figured that it would push me to the brink.

And it did.

I am closer to publishing than I could ever have hoped if I hadn't set this deadline.

Now I am doing a real assessment, based on what I already know and I believe that I will press the publish button either on Thursday or Friday.

There is only one thing that would postpone that.
I have to contact the ISBN issuer and request a change of the Publishing date from September 2024 to October 2024. So, I will have to wait for their response.

In the meantime, I am going to finish the edits andthe most challenging thing!formatting.

But once that all is done, immediatelly after I will hit publish, I will send you an email, whatever day it might be.

Oh, and I feel like I did achieve a big thing.

You know why?
Without that deadline, the book might have been sitting and gathering dust for the next few years.

Now it will be published in the next few days.

Tip for today:

Shoot for the moon.
Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars.

That’s all for today. Thank you for reading, and see you when I publish or next Tuesday, whatever will come first.
